Tuesday night

If you missed it you'll think I'm lying when I tell you which two teams found themselves in a 3-3 tie going into game 7. How did the defending champs fare against HappyPool? And the match of the night itself also going to game 7 before we crown a winner. Am I good at picking which matches to watch or what? =

Let's begin with those defending champs, HappyPool looking to give them one hell of a fight. it turned out to be as entertaining as Mike Tyson's big return.

Game 1: HP_DejaVu_45 vs. PFN_a7x_mark - Nope, I wouldn't start before or follow him, he's gotta play without his patnah, say it in a Boston accent Yankee fans. marko trying to run it, 6 straight stripes the first ones to go, then a solid...Only reason I mention that is because the solid was white. DejaVu would love to return the favor, looks for the 7 in the bottom right for her 5th solid, missed it. However, lucky lucky, Mark gets an ugly look at the final stripe, blocked by the 8. Ensuing shot, Mark tried to put the 8 up next to the 7, no luck. So back to DejaVu's turn. Now, try to envision this, on a diagonal you have a stripe, the 8, and your solid. Now the distance between each is about a cueball length. You will need to either screw the shot up horribly or get very unlucky to be left with no shot, with a ball near the bottom rail while all this is near the top of the table. The shot, ends up between the stripe and 8. So, Mark gets lucky to see the cueball again, next shot...rough position on 8. Gotta shoot the 8 from the middle of the table to either the bottom or top left. OK not that rough, but he missed. So let's go back to DejaVu. 2 solids, makes 1, wretched position on the next, 6 balls down by the way and...a scratch. Deja Vu. Mark wins it, 1-0 Champs.

Game 2: HP_x_ucantcme_x vs. PFN_british_pool_wizard - Yes, we're off to see the wizard. Yes, those 7 stripes and the 8ball disappeared off that table so fast it looked like he magically made them disappear. Beautiful run, what else can ya say? Champs up deuce to zip.

Game 3: HP_DALITTLEMAN vs. PFN_CoolDude3424 - OK so, this one will be a ltitle bit more exciting right? Join the game with 2 stripes and a solid already down. If you were there you saw 5 more stripes and the 8 go down. My goodness, another run, DejaVu. Small pun. Get rid of that name you'll get run a lot less. PFN up 3-0.

Game 4: HP_ANDY_3_16 vs. PFN__nightglow_ - Yes, the latter is jammy. Andy ya gotta run this guy or it's over. He missed. So here goes jammy, yep there's 1 down, then the 7 hangs in the bottom right. That 7ball and the bottom right don't get along too well. Andy on the offensive, knocks off 3 stripes, then he gets stuck and can't finish. From there it's Poolfiction Primetime, he makes Andy pay for that, slices the 8 in, man oh man PFN up 4-0.

Game 5: HP_lvlr_50_cent vs. PFN_xxl_concrete_coma_lxx - OK, so, here's the rundown. Poolfiction just made the first 4 HP players, minus DejaVu who actually had a chance, look silly. Payback time! Get excited HP fans! This is your only win! First the coma trying to pick up the win himself, misses the 1ball in the bottom left. From there, it's all fiddy. It's all fiddy, all the way to the 8 it's all fiddy. HP gets on the board, still 4-1 PFN. There was a little name controversy, but it turns out to be an admin error of some sort, something wrong with the invitation, or signing up, or something, either way who cares it's only 4-1.

Game 6: HP_WENDY_17_99 vs. PFN_OXxJoExXO - You have no idea how hard that is to type. Late in the game after Wendy failed to run, and a few shots after, Joe gets the nice safety, almost as good as LuckyDog's against Vickie Sunday night, but quite similar. Then, after getting ball in hand, that's a nice run, by Joe! Hang around old guys from the south you're bound to hear that expression. Ewwww 5-1 PFN.

Game 7: HP_Chuck_Money vs. PFN_revenge_of_mr - Okie dokey, welcome back to Mickey Mouse, resuming his role of PFN captain, after leading them to 2 World Series losses, while Jammy took them all the way. Mickey prove us you belong! Chuck goes for the 3 in the top right, gets the 8 off the left lip of the top middle and it goes straight down, to the bottom middle. But, after a little consideration, Mick gives the rerack. So he's no longer 1-0 upon returning. So on the rerack, Chuckie running, running, 5 down, and...no shot. Chuck does what little he can, Mick safeties after making a ball, Chuck fouls. Okie dokey, Mick belongs, officially. Mickey Mouse takes Chuck to the House of Mouse, PFN wins large, 6-1.

BeerBallers heading to Break and Run for your routine little opening week blowout, laugh it up match. Let's look at the facts. BNR through seasons 2-4, a big...12-25. BeerBallers season 4, 11-2. Yes that's 1 win shy of what BNR had in 3 seasons.

Game 1: BBM_l_eso_l vs. BNR_badalnighter - Eso gets down a couple of his stripes, goes for a safety...looks like it actually touches, but...No. So, Vince, badalnighter, call him what ya want, I'll steal the Vince Carter nickname in-VINCE-able, because he takes eso on a fun ride all the way 8 balls 8 shots that's how you tear it up and burn it down. And you know how supportive the break and run family is of their players, if this was a real pool match they'd be storming the table area already. 1-0 to BNR. Congrats ladies and gents you're now undefeated on the season.

Game 2: BBM_mtj_reap vs. BNR_emerald_eidolon - BBM looking to get back on track as far as winning. After a few moments mtj gets a shot to go, and runs 5 solids, until...doh! Clipped the 9ball trying to make the 2ball top left. Exciting Entertainers...Love emerald eidolon...until he catches a piece of mtj's deuce ball, going for that blasted 9, mtj gets ball in hand and finishes out, we're tied at uno y uno.

Game 3: BBM_miz vs. BNR_brown_skinnedgirl - Yeah remember miz? Played with PO last season? Blah blah blah. Ohhhhohoho, wait cubby don't say blah blah blah about me, I'll run the table after this girl misses just you watch. So...imagine it and watch. 6 stripes lef ton the table after the break, 6 stripes gone when he's done. Miz giving BBM the lead with authority, you can't say enough about the talent. Drunkballers up 2-1.

Game 4: BBM_jay_da_bowling_man vs. BNR_wnder_y - WARNING: This is what changed the match completely. Jayyyyy Jayyyy da bowling man is here, Beeeeer ballers have no fear, OK I'll stop. He runs 6 balls until, lack of position causes him to try and bank off the right, to the top left, doi yike gah, damn, just missed. That's called not picking up a spare. Wnder_y, trying to get some momentum going, goes for a 3rd pot, 3rd time's a bad luck charm. Just off the edges, but the cueball leaves itself in a lucky spot. Later on, you got the bottom right pocket, you got jay's stripe, and ya got the 8ball, all together. After a quite well-played safety showdown between the two competitive minds, let me paint the picture. The 8ball is LITERALLY ii THAT FAR from the rail. It's just off the bottom. The 8 goes off the left side God knows how, misses the called bottom left, goes to the bottom right, BeerBallers fans stunned like 'what?' Tied at deuces.

Game 5: BBM_C0rRuPteR vs. BNR_kellyhero2003 - We're tied at 2 again by the way...Whoda thunk it? Scotty trying to run it early, gotta squeeze the 8 between the bottom rail and the 15ball on the way to that bottom left, which loooooves BBM tonight. Aaaaaand.....No. Kelly going for it, could you imagine if BBM goes down 3-2 here? Don't waste your time. kelly misses after a few shots, Scott takes home the win, BBM up 3-2.

Game 6: BBM_x_clogz_x vs. BNR_capwhanda - OK this blowout that wasn't is just way too close, time for mr. shutdown. Remember how insanely impressive Clogz was last season? Capwhanda runs into a wall trying to run so she plays what looks to be an OK safety...But OK is not good enough. Clogz starts running. Brian looking for the easy shot on the 10, just off the bottom rail going for the bottom right, got a little too paranoid of that dern 8 getting in the way, misses off the bottom, and BBM just leaving that door wide open for Break and Run to stay in this match. By the way BNR has break for game 7. Cap gets to the 8, I'm sitting at the comp. going "bank time" bottom to top middle, forget it. Slice time, capwhanda barely and I mean by God just barely drops the 8 into the bottom middle from the near impossible angle, and Oh, my, god, it's 3-3.

Game 7: BBM_ll_ivey_ll vs. BNR_redhot_2oo3 - Remember Ivey has that required cam stipulation, they safetied often early, until the BNR captain got a shot at running which he wouldn't pass up. So here goes redhot for the upset! 3 solids down, 4 down, 5 down, 6 down, ...Bah. Now he's just at ivey's mercy. Ivey would eventually run it down to 3 balls, the easy ball coming...Well you know he's legit at least. On a computer screen that's about a 2 or 3-incher he missed. Redhot unfortunately has the 8 between the 7 and top right pocket, miracle time? Wouldn't be the first shot redhot pulled out of absolutely nowhere...But that's one skwewy gwitch, at least that's what I saw. Hard really to explain it. Ivey would safety, redhot gets 1 more shot. Y'know with a little more side english and more power, he could've nailed the top-bottom-top right double-rail cuebank. But he was short and off line, but remember Ivey did miss a short simple one before...He wouldn't again. BeerBallers barely, and I do mean barely survive Revolves Ballroom, 4-3. A great, as if that's a big enough word, effort, put forth by Break and Run, who now have got to be thinking...hey if BS got slapped by Hot Shotz, just wait'll we get our hands on em next week. BlackSilver look out the breakers are coming.

Didn't see much of Quez-SuperbPool, because I was watching BBM-BNR and by the time I got a chance to watch this match, it was just about time for WildAngels and XPool. However I know it was a total blowout, Paul did lose his game but his opponent, brad, was ineligible and DQed from what I hear. So...6-1, the score over there, Quez winning large. Don't ya just miss MJ?

Speaking of our match of the night, XPool and WildAngels, the best kind of MLP match? The kind that goes back and forth like one of those clown punching bags, especially when you've got this kid of story. Let's track Judy's movement through MLP lately Partslady29 starts off with XPool, heads over to BBM, who just survived by the hairs of their chinny chin chins, and now ends up with WildAngels, who open the season with XPool, and it's the circle of life and it moves us all...OK that's all for the Disney phrases I promise.

Game 1: XP_pizzaskater15 vs. WA_princess_of_pool_69 - Game starts off on a big-time note. Scratch on the break. Later on in the game, the princess trying to go the distance for the win, tries to slide the 6ball past a couple stripes in the bottom right, no such luck. However, pizza would only make 1 ball and then miss, the lady gets another chance. She makes the bank on the 6, off the top to the bottom right, then the cueball hits the left lip on the bottom center pocket, and scratches top middle. So the pizza skater, I love pizza, pepperoni's great, as he nails a couple, hamburg's not bad either, as he hits his 4th in a row, anchovies suck, as he misses the final stripe. Princess one more time, 1 solid left, and.....it hangs bottom left like any pitch from Roger Clemens to Trot Nixon. Pizza skater then, extra cheese. Nails the final stripe and the 8 easily, XPool up 1-0.

Game 2: XP_xxx_Chokey_xxx vs. WA_SongNeverEnds - Yes, that's SongNeverEnds, made it all the way to the Regular Tourney Finals Sunday, representing the new kids. Chokey tries running, no luck, does make 4 though. He'd get another shot anyways, goes for the 9 in the top left...boing. Missed that one. Song with a legitimate shot, nope that's no good. Chokey makes that stupid 9, gets great position for the 14-15 combo in the bottom right, and....it hangs like the wild west outlaws that didn't quite avoid the sheriff. From there, the Song that Never Ends, looking for a run that never ends, it ended, but possibly leaving no line, not quite sure, but there's 1 stripe left now, from bottom right to top left, ehhhhhh no. And don't say you didn't see this coming...This is the run that never ends...until the 8 goes in my friends...and Wild, Angels have tied this match up at 1 apiece, you finish it I'm tired.

Game 3: XP_topthat5000 vs. WA_stud__68 - Game delayed a tad bit thanks to some idiot with more names than Brandon can type words per minute can you believe it? Topthat, after a couple minutes of nothing being potted, goes on a tear, making 6 stripes but it only matters if ya get em all. He would foul...stud, top that. He too would make 6, and play a decent safety, which topthat countered nicely. They would go back and forth with quality counters, until stud gets a decent look at a bank. Screw this safety stuff, it's showtime...No it's not, it's Cinemax which kisses Showtime's smelly feet. Topthat nails his final 2 shots, XPoolers back on top 2-1.

Game 4: XP_brookshire777 vs. WA_JasonWicked - Baaaaaack and forth. Brook showing very little control on any opening shots, it hurt him too. After he finally missed, JasonWicked, with the Wicked good run. Unlike his opponent he obviously had much better control, better vision, managed the table extremely well, THAT'S how you tie a match up. Deuces wild in PTG.

Game 5: XP_Southern_desire vs. WA_IrishRose1 - Angels have not led at all this match, but if you're gonna take a lead now would be the right time so Irish, work a little saint patty magic, aye? Southern desire trying to make sure the Irish fauna doesn't get a chance at the table, but she scratches and...sing an irish drinking song! Excellent runout by IrishRose, and the Wild Angels run themselves to 2 straight wins, they're up for the first time this match, 3-2 Angels.

Game 6: XP_shootalready vs. WA_MYSTICALLL - All that great control from the Angels, it got them wins, remember that because one of these players has homework to do for week 2. Shootalready mid-to-late game, wants to tie this at triples, tries running, but it wasn't all there. Left to try a cuebank, left to bottom right, that's kinda off the mark. Now, you have no shot. Control has been the key in getting the lead, you have 3 excellent safety oppurtunities, Mysticalll what should you do? "uh...hit n hope?" No. But that's what he did. He did get lucky though, shoot can only safety. Chance for redemption, great safety chance for mysticalll, instead let's try an english cuebank. Got what he deserved, a foul. Shootalready grabs game 6, and we're tied 3-3. Next week's practice session will include control lessons.

Game 7: XP_xpooler_b vs. WA_Nat_TheGreat - Yes that's nat who used to play for MadSkillz, who Moe has rejoined from LPL...who ever thought he could live without them? Xpooler stuck behind a safety from Nat, if only someone in game 6 had done it...doh! But xpooler gets very lucky, and continues his turn. That turn continues down to 2 solids left, making the next is easy but the english, tough. Just a little too much sidespin added by xpooler, and he has to try a safety, no good. One final safety from Nat, he draws the foul. Then, Nat, The Great, shows us why. 1 shot 2 shot 3 shots 4 shots all I hear is gunshots this is where the fun starts...whoops, wrong song. 1 shot 2 shots 3 shots 4 shots all I see is great shots, actually there were 7 shots. All the stripes, in the holes, then the 8, easily, what a sad, attempt at rap... but he wins the game all ya gotta know. By the way that was to Eminem's "one shot 2 shots" -_- Great run from Nat and a great performance for the most part from Wild Angels, taking Xpool by the score of 4-3, a great overall night of MLP.

As for the most impressive play of the night, there are 3 of them. The 3 wins BNR put up, 1 a total fluke, but the never quit, don't cave in effort from Break and Run proves they will stare in the face of any team and give them a hell of a fight. This could easily be an above-500 team this season, as long as they come with that competitive spirit every week.

Tuesday's Picks

I'm tired as all hell so let's get to it.

BeerBallers @ Break and Run, 7:00 in Revolves Ballroom. Personally I'm only worried about how people will act to any banks or tough shots BNR may pull off. Last time I was worried about it, we all know how that turned out. So, on paper, which doesn't mean much in week 1, BBM whoops Break and Run. I'll give it a 5-2 however, because I think between redhot, patriciamalkin, and badalnighter, along with kellyhero, brown skinndegirl, and the others I can't name them all, they should be able to snatch a pair. As for BNR, they just have to realize they're heavy, heavy underdogs this week and as far as schedule difficulty, they got the anal end of the draw in the early goings. BBM, then BS, even though HotShotz hit them where it hurts with that 5-2. I don't even need to list BBM's players, they should easily win.

The other 7PM match, HappyPool and PoolFiction, in Bad Times. Defending MLP Champions looking for a win to start it off, rmember they met early last season, HP wasn't prepared, at all, struggled to get a team, you know the rest. However when they were ready for a match, they put up a hell of a fight, isn't that right PF? However, I've got to give the edge to PoolFiction in this match. Mick returning as captain, and the momentum from sweeping the World Series, they should be able to handle HP. I'll go with 5-2 PFN.

8:00 Quez and SuperbPool. SuberbPool has a lot of qustions to answer and the best they can do is ignore them. The biggest one is of course, can they accomplish anything without cheating? I hate to put it so blunt but that's what happened. They'll try what they can, but remember this was the team that lost to a team of CueKeepers who started with just 2 players, and blew the 3-0 lead. Yeah you can see why they wanted MJ to play clincher. With all that hopefully behind them, it'll be up to T Rocket, and Paris, to lead this team if they want to win. Unfortunately they're against the Quez, and all they have going for them is home advantage, because the Queballz have former Outlaw captain Kevin, who like I've said many times, knows how to motivate a team. With him he brought Paul, kyle, Craig, Lena, let's just say over half of the QZ team is a former Outlaw. Quez should be able to win 4-3.

Finally, WildAngels and XPool the match of the night at 9 in Play The Game. I'm taking XPool, even though WildAngels have SongNeverEnds who was very impressive during the tour. It will take more than the 1-win effort everyone else put in to beat XPool especially at home. XPool I think has the better shooters, like turbo, and angel, but of course witht he new season, new faces surface, so only time will tell. I'd prefer to go with XPool 5-2, even though it should be closer to 4-3.
