Tuesday stuff

CueKeepers vs. EZ8Pool.

GAME 1: Wizard basically outplayed jk.fu in most every way, and avoided a DQ for ineligibility because the TD hadn't reported his recent tourney yet. Not that getting in eligibility 5 minutes before the match is a brilliant idea, but whatever *shrugs* 1-0 EZ8.

GAME 2: pimpin_leagues after trying to rush wizard in game 1 during the name issue, nearly pulled one out against SkrewBall but he was ineligible anyways, but since he wasn't DQd before losing, it's kinda irrelevant SkrewBall beat him, gets a normal win, etc.

GAME 3: Craig gave himself nothing on 8, letting Pommy take over with just 4 solids to clear... Right? Uh... No. With the 8 near the top rail next to the 7, craig goes off the right rail, then the top 8, hits the 8 perfectly so that it rolls off the 7 into the top middle pocket, Pommy's perfect season is over on a brilliant shot it's 3-0 EZ8.

GAME 4: The return of Mick... Fresh out of retirement he and 2 others need to save just to force a game 7. Is Mick back or still shaking off the rust? By the way he's against o.wn4ge who failed to clinch Week 1 against Pommy. That was against PM. Mick puts up a perfect run when finally given the chance, and keeps CKP alive as he goes 8, in, a, row. He's baaaaaaaaaaaack... 3-1.

GAME 5: XLNC needs to win to continue the meaningful games... Captain mr_redemer thinks his stats are edited, actually he's just ineligible but again it doesn't matter because the Captain just simply 8-in-a-row's him, for the clinch, it's 4-1.

Other games: Rob over t0_ez (4-2), EZ8 forfeited the last game so the match ends 4-3 EZ8.
EZ8 jumped out early because their early players are better than CKP's. CKP's early 2 were: A new player to MLP for this season, and a guy in a pretty big rush. That forced Brandi to send Pommy in to stop the team from going 0-3 and when craig nailed that shot, forced her to put up Mick to have a prayer. I personally would've pu Rob up in game 5 if it were me, but it didn't matter because redemer ran it straight from break anyways. But CKP also had 2 games with ineligible players who, incidentally both lost so it didn't matter. That is extremely uncharacteristic of CKP and Brandi/Rob. Cue Keepers I don't think cared enough about this match, and EZ8 essentially wiped the floor with them, despite the 4-3 score. It felt like I was watching a 6-1 beatdown. EZ8 showed that they certainly didn't need the Bye they got against NC last week, and had good games all around. You can't really hold the inability to clinch against ownage, because he has gone up against Pommy and Mick trying to do so. Yeah, odds of beating both of them in the same season in 7v7 play? Not high.

Pool Masters - Lucky Shots

GAME 1: Spanky scratches late in the game and perhaps one of only a couple bright spots for PM is gonna go down... Yep, moonlite kisses gets the 2-3 combo and goes on to win and put LS up 1-0.

GAME 2: fierce.fire puts PM on the board, I didn't see the game I was busy checking on EZ8-CKP, but it looked like a decent win over southern_angel. Anyways it's 1-1.

GAME 3: TOOLdt goes for the early run but runs into trouble, tries to full-power a shot but scratches with the make. dawndyyyy opens up a run chance of her own, but SHE scratches too! TOOL then leaves nothing on the 8 after a couple of shots, and tries to bank off the top to bottom middle. Under-powered, off the mark, you get the picture. dawndy would finish her 3 solids and the 8, for the win. 2-1 PM

GAME 4: Sex.cowboy for LS flukes in 2 stripes both to top right, the living example of TOOL's earlier line saying "we're not called Luckyshots because we're good you know!" But cowboy had a perfect chance to finish the run and could not. star_trek breathes a sigh of relief and goes to work on his solids, he's got 7 of 'em. With 3 solids, the 8, and the 10 all bunched on the right rail, he half-heartedly tried a safe bank. Cowboy would glitch the 10 through the cue and trek tapped the 4, leaving the 10 easily in but difficult to position for the 8. He didn't bite. In an even odder move, trek hit the 2 in, leaving nothing at all for himself. He then banked for contact, and pushed the 8 out. Cowboy, gimme on the 8 but botched it badly, but then trekky knocked the 8 in himself on accident! That's a long summary holy crap it's 2-2 though =/ Good thing I type these DURING the games lol

GAME 5: Payback is a bitch. l3ig_t tried running to give LS a 3-2 lead, but instead just like the PM player in the previous game, he rolls the 8 in and it's 3-2 PM instead! BTW that puts mr big t at 0-3 with 1 blown save this season... That has been the story of the season for LS.

And then no 6th player so the game goes to timer, kingj was called but does not get a DQ win he gets a credited win to playoff eligibility, and with 2 forfeit wins PM wins 5-2. 0-3, 5/16, 5 forfeit losses for Lucky Shots. As for PM, nobody clinches but they improve to 1-2, 11/10 and have a pair of forfeit wins. A lot of ugly breaks in this match but PM still played a very mediocre game overall. Not nearly enough to talk about out of the early players, but I did like the idea of throwing up Spanky in Game 1. You're 0-2 and she has been the only productive player this season. Leagues typically throw up weaker players in game 1, she had a subpar game for her standards based on the season so far but she also caught some bad breaks. It happens.

I think if LuckyShots plan to win, and they can, they need to be more careful with the cueball, and bring 7 players to a match. Control and players are their 2 biggest problems, aside from the obvious "LOL WELZ THEY RNT SKILLED" yeah skill isn't a big necessity when all you need to do is make the top 5 out of 8. Of course, it doesn't help going 0-3 to start either. There's hope just not much.
