National League Road To The Playoffs
NATIONAL LEAGUE
CHEAP SHOTZ (9-2, 47/30) - The #1 seed in the Conference, led by (IMO) the NL MVP Boozilla. They basically run the gauntlet at the end of the season. 8BR last match, PoolFiction this week, Malditos next week before they get to play BNR at the end. I don't think Cheap Shotz will take PFN. Last time they played it was a pretty decided affair, 5-2 for Poolfiction. This match may also decide the NL MVP. It's pretty much a 2-horse race between Boozilla and PFN's Jamie. Miz just kinda sits there as an option in case they both all of a sudden stop playing or get banned or something. As for the match against Malditos, that one I think they WILL take. CZ won that one 5-2, this time it'll probably go all 7. Chex and Miz are very good players, if Pascal plays you gotta worry about him if you're Mickey, I think CZ has more options than Malditos have, but I think Malditos' 3 big guns will come through if the play, except miz if tino's smart and plays him Game 7, likely against DQed or Boozilla. Then the gimme against BNR, just show up and win 5-2 or 6-1. Final 3 Weeks Record: 2-1.
POOLFICTION (8-3, 49/28) - Like I said, BIG match against Cheap Shotz both for PFN AND Jamie individually, then they have a "OK let's get people eligible" match against Blazing Cues, before finishing against the powerhouse that is Pool Loverz, and that could be a very important matchup for PZ. PoolFiction has about 7 players who could realistically become eligible for the Playoffs when they come around, so it's very important that they play those last 2 matches. As it is right now they actually only have 8 eligible, that are still with the league (by my count anyways.) So they need players to get eligible, but they also need to beat Cheap Shotz. I think they're gonna finish off with 3 in a row coming off this Thanksgiving break, and take #1 by tiebreaker in the NL. Final 3 Weeks Record: 3-0.
MALDITOS (8-3, 50/27) - Talk about a league that has kinda risen from obscurity over the past 2 calendar years. I remember when I first heard of them (I think it was in either PLC or NPA) I thought they were kind of a nobody league, like Breakers Alley, Rolls Joint, etc. were in MLP. Boy was I ever wrong... Anyways to the here and now. First they get to officially knock Break and Run out of the MLP Playoff hunt, assuming Hot Shotz hadn't by then. From there it's that important match with Cheap Shotz that they really need to win to have any shot at #1 in the NL, and then they have a matchup with a Hot Shotz team that could be playing for their Playoff lives at that point. They've done an excellent job this season of rotating players in and out and still having a good record, so Playoff eligibility is not a problem at all. They can focus on going with their top 7 period. The match with Hot Shotz is kind of a trap match, but I think they'll handle them sufficiently. Final 3 Weeks Record: 2-1.
8BALL RUNNERS (7-4, 48/29) - They'll be without Declan for the match against Hot Shotz. A Hot Shotz win would just about secure the final Playoff spot in the National League for them, so 8BR needs to be ready. That hasn't been their strong point at all. I do think they'll squeak by Hot Shotz though, because they seem to have figured it out overall. Then they have Break and Run, that's a blowout waiting to happen, and they finish with an even bigger gimme in Blazing Cues. Basically no shot at #1, just get the players eligible, and get ready for what is sure to be a VERY tough round 1. But here's the kicker... They would be better off tanking the season, taking on the #5 Hot Shotz, then rolling the dice in the 2nd round. No matter who they play of the other big 3, it's sure to be a hell of a match. So either way you're rolling the dice, but imagine if #1 is Poolfiction, a league they have owned this year... Ah... Concept. If they go for it: Final 3 Weeks Record: 3-0.
HOT SHOTZ (5-6, 37/40) - Looking like that "NBA Playoff" team; Sub-500, catch fire at the end of the season, etc. They won't beat 8Ball Runners. They CAN beat them, but unless 8BR tanks like I said, they won't. They have a couple reliable players... But the majority of their main players are basically dicerolls, simple players, etc. Week 13. Pool Loverz. Pool Loverz all of a sudden figured out how to play pool. They knocked off Poolfiction. Fluke right? They come back the very next week and take out Cheap Shotz! Then they kinda remembered they were PZ and lost to 8BR and Malditos. So now Hot Shotz have them breathing down their necks trying to steal the last Playoff spot away from them. I think PZ had only caught fire for a brief span though and have fallen back to earth. Hot Shotz will beat PZ, then lose to Malditos and keep the #5 spot in the National League Playoffs via tiebreaker, worst case scenario. Final 3 Weeks Record: 1-2.
PROJECTED NATIONAL LEAGUE PLAYOFFS:
1: PoolFiction (11-3, 64/34)
2: Cheap Shotz (11-3, 59/39)
3: Malditos (10-4, 63/35)
4: 8Ball Runners (10-4, 62/36)
5: Hot Shotz (6-8, 46/52)
WILDCARD: #4 8BallRunners over #5 Hot Shotz in 4
SEMI 1: #2 Cheap Shotz over #3 Malditos in 6
SEMI 2: #1 PoolFiction over #4 8Ball Runners in 7
NL FINAL: #1 PoolFiction over #2 Cheap Shotz in 7
Still stickin to my guns, CKP-PFN Final, although there's a very good chance neither makes it. 8BR, tank or not as you can see I'm pickin to stay #4 because of the fact that Malditos absolutely smoked them this season, but there's a chance for them to take #3 if MLD slips. Next week the usual weekly stuff, and another look at the MVP, especially in the AL.
