Monday Picks
HotShotz @ PoolFighters (George Washington vs. Georgia Tech) - PF plays the role of Georgia Tech because...They lost last week, but they're still vastly better. HS did get Aaron013 from BlackSilver, which of course doesn't hurt any. But, PF's players have the advantage in table awareness, shot-making, shot selection, and of course home advantage usually doesn't hurt...Unless you're Poolfiction from season 3 (3-3 at home, 7-0 away) But...they're not. This won't be your 5-12 upset which is always promised in the NCAA, this'll be a good 5-2 for PF, and the reason I don't back this up with names...Do I really need to?
Break And Run @ Absolute Finest (UAB vs. LSU) - BNR plays the part of UAB this time (UAB lost by 7 last game they played.) Because AF is simply better, BUT BNR can reasonably slay the giants. But...It probably won't happen. Absolute's players just play the game well, that's really the biggest key behind their 4-0, soon to be 5-0 start. Red doesn't pick first player here, so he may have to stick with the lineup and order that got BNR off to this 2-2 start. But even with that lineup, Austen's likely to show up for AF, RvDBlade's gonna be there, I'm sure derek shows up, jeremy, ExtremeChamp (ViperNZ) after finishing as a runner-up in the reg jump last night, it all just seems too much for redhot to overcome here...But I won't say it's impossible...I made that mistake when I said HP would never beat PF last season...Heh. The biggest mistake AF can make (and especially Austen) is over-safetying BNR. If they have a reasonable shot, don't put it past them to take it. And they don't always miss either, and of course when redhot misses it's not by much. Still, 4-3 Finest, 5-2 if BNR can't put that sweep from last week behind them. Last time BNR got swept for the first time in a season, it repeated. Bad omen but I'll keep it 5-2 at worst.
HappyPool @ BritPool (Oakland vs. Alabama A&M) - Either league can be either team because, they're just gonna be desperate for a win. Both teams 1-3, both teams do have a somewhat quality win, but BritPool has been in this downward spiral for 3 weeks. It's the problem 8BR has, they're not playing as good as they know they can. HappyPool aren't pushovers, but first they have to get a team. When you can only pull 1 player for any night of the week, that's just...well, sorry for not being nice but that's just stupid. Now HP has to come back with a team of 7, only 1 played last week assuming Deja Vu shows up, BP has to know that if they lose this match they may have to start refunding playoff tickets. I think BritPool will win this though and break that losing streak, because while HP needs it more, I don't think the urgency will ever really hit them. 5-2 BritPool.
ChampionsPool @ Breakers Alley (Southern Illinois vs. Saint Mary's) - Neither team is particularly impressive but Southern Illinois is favored by ESPN guys to win, and therefore they will be ChampionsPool. While I said CHP isn't impressive, they are good enough to win. Salik_Bilal is a nice shooter, makes a few mistakes here and there, but I think he's their best. Breakers Alley shouldn't have a problem getting a team for this one, because I haven't known Champs to play a lot of safeties. But BA players may not understand that. There are some in Breakers that actually like safeties, and some that don't mind, but take it from me it is VERY hard to get a group of players in a league like BA, who don't mind safeties, and can show up every match. Breakers will have their hands full tonight, and they'll let the Champs slip right through them. 4-3 to ChampionsPool.
P.S.: Big big news from an NL league coming right up.
