Saturday Night: Poolfiction (9-3) @ Straightshots (4-8)

One team fighting for their playoff lives; the other just playing for a nice seeding. This match lived up to my expectation at least, because it had many things I expected happen. First and foremost, a Cubby loss :P Second, a player bitch about a yahoo...over and over. And also a game that involved Mick that lasted 20+ minutes! But, dont take my word for it lets get to the tapes!

Match #1 - pfn_wolf_cubby vs ss_Good_Riddance_23
This match started out like all the others pretty much; SLOW. Little safety here, little safety there, cubby mess-up here :P At about 3 mins in on the tape cubby gets ball in hand and see's it as a perect time to ... safety. ZzZzZz lol. Now, at about 5 mins cubby attempts a safety and sinks cue after hitting it too hard, leaving Riddance a chance to run it out. At this point theirs a grand total of 3 balls sunk (I think Mick was playing on Cubbys ID). Riddance has enough of this safety stuff and decides 'Hey let's get a lead on these goof-balls.' 3 balls sunk, 4 , 5, 6, 7, 8.
Score: 1-0 SS :O

Match #2 - pfn_OXxJoExXO vs ss_akahoopg0d
Match starts out w/ Joe sinking the cueball so hoop tries for the bang to open up the table. Fails Miserably. After this both players resort to sinking their opponents balls w/ some decent looking safeties. At about 6 mins on the tape Hoop feels its time to run this thing out, since he's only got 3 balls remaining. He goes for the very awkward cut shot and...misses. Joe's shot and a table involving 6 of his own balls and 3 of Hoops; you can guess what happened.
Score: 1-1

Match #3 - pfn_lll_hill_lll vs ss_Stick_777
Hill breaks, sinks nothing, but leaves a pretty nice looking table to run out. Stick shoots and sinks 3 stipes. Only problem is he's left no shot for the 4th stripe, so he safeties. Hills' shot, tries to safety but pulls a cubby and sinks cue into same pocket as Sean, Top right. Stick thanks hill for the gift and proceeds to ... jam his last ball against one of Hills' and leave no possible shot this side of Canada. Hill then takes about 5 mins and a series of about 8 shots to set up the table into something he fancies running. Gets it set up, and does just that.
Score: 2-1 PFN

Match #4 - pfn_jeremy_doyle2002 vs ss_kula.
I forgot to start recording this match until 2 balls were sunk each. Yes, forgot = Tape starts w/ Ryan (kula), being safetied down in a corner and he shoots out and gives JD ball in hand. Jeremy runs until he gets damn unlucky after shooting in the Blue stripe and leaves no shot for his other 3. He attempts to safety, but ends up missing his ball by an inch and leaves Ryan an easy run-out. Ryan gets to his second last colour and shoots cue too far and hides it, leaving no shot for his final Red. "Wow what BS I hate yahoo." This just in: You Shot too hard. Now, JD tries to move his green from behind the 8 while safetying in the same shot. Only problem is, he sinks the green and safeties HIMSELF behind 8. Wow, this is one damn ugly game lol. He gets out of it but leaves Ryan a bank that he pretty much has to risk if he wants any hope of winning this game. He decides not to take it, and safeties instead. It leaves JD w/ a long cue bank for a safety which he hits w/ relative ease. Ryan goes for the long safety and leaves JD an easy shot and run-out. Then outta nowhere we see Ryan say somethin about the "yahoo" he got 10 minutes ago, and how the match would've been over had he not got it. Now why the hell would you bring that up seeing as how you were given a chance to win the match even after it happened? Ignorant and Pathetic are the two words that immediately pop into my head. JD runs his final 2 balls and the match ends.
Score: 3-1 PFN

Match #5 - pfn_mkr vs ss_f_u_n_k_da_p_i_m_p
Safety after safety for about the first 4 mins. Then...funk sinks the 8.
Score: 4-1 PFN

Match #6 - pfn_KillahSoul vs ss_Law_44
5 minutes in on the tape; 3 balls sunk for Law and 0 for Mike. Only thing is Mike has just played a perfect saftey, but Law makes a very nice shot to hit his own ball and not give Mike BIH. Mike then safeties again but a tad too hard and leaves Law a chance to run it out if he gets some luck w/ a bang. He doesn't get the luck he needs and is forced to safety. Mike gets out of it and now its 7 balls against 1. Took longer then usual for Mike to finish this since Law went to get an ice cream cone or somethin and came back w/ 2 mins left on timer. Now I felt Law played quite well after this considering he was greatly outnumbered in available shots. In the end the deficit was too much to overcome and Mike takes it.
Score: 5-1 PFN

Match #7 - pfn_revenge_of_mr vs ss_o0o_pool_professor_o0o
The match was 30 minutes long. Enough said. Now this is not a typo so no one fall of their chair or start screaming the world is ending because it isn't. Mick was outplayed for the final 20 minutes or so of this match, and i'm sure even he would be the first person to admit this. At about 25 minutes into the match Mick gives up ball in hand and the professor takes him to school and sinks Mickey B's 2nd last colour leaving him no shot on his final solid. Mick makes, what he even agrees with, an ugly shot and gives up BIH. Now this is where things get interesting. Micks ball is jammed against one of the professors so, naturally, the professor tries to spreak the out. Only thing he does wrong here is hits the cue too hard and bounces out off the rail and leaves Mick a CLEAR shot for his last solid! Knowing the match is over everyone is quite stunned at the turn of events and mick quietly shoots in his final solid and the 8-ball.
Final Score: 6-1 PFN

Now this was a match of many things. Ignorance on the part of Kula. Non-stop chatting from the retarded umpire and his pfn puppets. All of this was outdone though by Mick and his actions. I was so impressed by how he acted I would feel almost guilty not commenting on it in this post. His motivation towards his teammates is unmatched as far as i'm concerned. Do you know what he said after the professor hit his cue ball too hard on his final shot? No, it wasn't, "Ouch, ul" nor was it "lol, that sucks." He told his opponent that he had played an amazing match and that he had been truly outplayed . He also went on to say he himself, didn't deserve to win this game. A captain is supposed to be a role-model for his/her teammates and Mick displayed this over-and-over through this match. Without a doubt he is a key reason why this Poolfiction team is a contender year in and year out.
