Interview with Cuekeeper's Captain, Pommy

Alright, well first off, congrats on making the World Series and congrats to Cuekeepers on what has already been a fantastic season. What makes your team so special that you can dominate week in and week out like you do?

Quite simple really. There are no real weak links in the team. I have a group of 8/9 guys that I am quite happy to throw out at any time and be able to count on for wins. It does help that they also show up when they say they're going to. I usually had my team set 2 or 3 days before each match this season. Don't get me wrong though, it does help to have studs like Matt, Cal, Don, Charlie etc to throw out there if we are ever stuggling.

Yeah. No doubt. What went through your head when CZ took a 3-1 lead in the Conference Finals? Were you ever worried?

Honestly? The main thing I thought about was not wanting Matts (superstaaaar) season to end on that note. Hes had a tough time of it in MLP in previous seasons, but finally showed what hes made of this season going 10-1. But Worried? Nah. I had Cal, Charlie and Myself left, so theres always a high chance to win. It was an odd match with lucky bounces going both ways. In the end, we had the depth to pull it off.

Holy shit I wasn't aware you were capable of caring for people other than yourself. Nice. Now, you mentioned players like Cal, Matt and Charlie, It’s also no secret you have one of the better Canadian players on Ypool (Joey). It’s also been rumoured you’re close friends with other Canadian players (myself included); Why do you think Canadians are so damn cool?

Probably cause its cold up there in NoWhereVille? I do love Joey though, even if he did choke it up against CZ lol

I like it up here in "NoWhereVille." So – Poolfiction in the World Series. Should be a great match. Any early thoughts?

Yea. A few. Not that Im going to give away my strategy on here though lol. Basically, I think its going to come down to a few lucky bounces. Both teams have a Top 7 that can beat anyone, so I'm not going to be claiming any super captain decisions will decide this. There will obviously be some matchups I want, but again, I'm not going to tell you those :P

Fine. Be that way. As much as it bothers me to say this – you’re clearly a great captain. Poolfiction has home-table advantage in the World Series so you’re going to have to win at least one on the “road” to take home the title. As a visiting Captain, what kind of things do you have to do to get the upper hand in a match when you have to call your player first?

Lead off hard. It's done CKP well in the past, to just go out and try and get as many wins early as possible. It's much easier to play at 1-0, 2-0, than it is when you're behind in a match. I know thats a pretty simple explanation, but thats really all it is. On the road, I have 7 players, I have no choice who they play, so just go with whoever has the best chances to win in any type of game. There will be a noticeable difference between the team order for Match 1 and Match 2, but fortunately there is no slip in skill level in the CKP team, so can just hopefully play to peoples strengths on the road.

I agree 100% with that. Finally – I know you have lots of confidence in every player on your team, but Scenario: It’s Game 7 in Match 3 – you know Jamie will be playing for Poolfiction – from your massive array of weapons, who do you put up against him for a chance to win the World Series and why?

I wouldn't want to put that on anyone elses shoulders but my own. I would much rather let the other guys deal with jus playing their own games, than having to worry about it being an all or nothing match. I always felt pretty good when I was playing for PoolHustlers back in the day, knowing I had Theike sitting back there in the Game 7 slot to cover if I made any mistakes, so I hope I can give that safety net to the CKP team now. It also helps me though, having the team I do in front of me. They have so often won tough matches without needing to fall back to me. Random Stat : CKP went 8 straight weeks during the reg season, starting off a match 3-0 or better. They've done it all season, which just makes we want to get it done for them when it matters. Corny ay?

Indeed. You are just a giant ball of feelings, Christopher. Thanks for your time Pommy, and best of luck in the World Series. Any last thing you’d like to say to MLP on the season that’s been?

Mainly just a big thanks for putting up with me bitching and moaning to the whole CKP team, and my fellow admins. Apart from that, I'll comment once the finals are over lol. Thanks Ryan

Oh. True or False: A farm animal could captain this team to a World Series title.

Baaaa

And there you have it. He might not be the coolest guy in MLP - or the nicest - but he gets the job done as CKP captain. Can "Little Bo Pom" lead his sheep to a World Series title? We'll find out next week.
