Pool Legends and Pool Fiction
#1: Unknown League coming in - OK, so you knew a good amount of the players from Pool Masters, but how many of you were familiar with the league itself?
#2: Primarily members of another League first - Well, most of PoolFiction came from ChampionsPool, now most of Pool Legends came from Pool Masters.
#3: Had great unknown talent - Someone like poolstud, OK he's no Luis but he's a good shooter, i_am_a_sore_loser, etc., the people you don't know about who can still pick up big wins.
#4: A real League - How many guys in PL get their 20 games then stop playing? If some people in MLP tried to go to PL for Season 6, I can almost guarantee they'd be told to stfu and cram a toy somewhere nasty. Why? Because the League believes in loyalty, and they believe in being a LEAGUE, not a group. And uh...So far, I dunno, it looks like it has worked.
#5: Finally, made World Series on the first try - Just as PoolFiction did in Season 2, Pool Legends come through and Cinderella their way through the Playoffs, and you know what? I hope they win it. Will they? Probably not. But I want them to win it because I want Lucky to tell me about all the league-whores who ask him to be on the team XD
So while it's the end of PFN's era...Is it Pool Legends' time? I guess we'll just have to see how the Legend is told.
Pool Legends vs Regul8ors
Game 1: REG__james15_ VS. PL_poolstud1111 - Poolstud, according to Luckydog is a really good runner. Well, after a slow start he left james a pretty good chance to run himself and well...this is james not Doug Brien. He ain't missing. He leaves poolstud with 7 stripes on the table, I believe we call it 7ballage, one Regul8or called it ownage...Well we'll see how long that holds.
Game 2: REG_jerfighter VS. PL_King_Blur - Hey, Tulane-Baylor and Sox-Indians were both on, can't expect me to watch everything can you? Just shhhh all you need to know is King beat Jer and it's a 1-1 game.
Game 3: REG_xlx_pacifier_xlx VS. PL_i_am_a_sore_loser - Has the guy lost yet? How can he be a sore loser? -_- Ah whatever. Throughout the early part of the game both players had considerable lag while recording, pacifier (generaly_cool)'s was a lot worse, he ended up rebooting or something like that. Restarts the tape and here's how you know there was no foul play in all of this. Like...2 or 3 shots in, botches a gimme for a player as good as Chris, in a situation as big as this, and sore_loser's a fortunate_winner and Legends lead it 2-1.
Game 4: REG_flip_is_krunk VS. PL_CrazyStriker2oo5 - Well, Flip won I didn't watch a lot of this either, baseball kinda took priority for various reasons. 2-2 tie.
Game 5: REG_flyin. VS. PL_beaverjames1 - There's just somethin wrong with Lucky, with his typical status messages saying "beaver plz"... Anyways, from what little I saw of this gae, both players had their chances a couple times to end it but in the end it was Trace just doing what Tracey does to break a deuce-deuce tie, including a nice bank late in the game off the top rail, into the bottom middle and the Reguul8ors are up 3-2 in the NL Conference Finals.
Game 6: REG_Master_Asia VS. PL_Luckydog71 - Captain vs. Captain, Lucky vs. Pita, and Lucky makes a couple gems throughout the game to keep the #8-seeded Pool Legends in contention to knock off the #1 and #2 seeds in the National League Playoffs. I did say it'd be an absolute circus over there right?
Game 7: REG_Zero_Burn_911 VS. PL_ll_fink_ll - You save the best for last and by the looks of things...Regs didn't. He clinched the AF match but Zero went for it earlier, and left finky a huge chance to run the table. And uh...this is fink. Down to 2 balls before the 8, he drains 1 ball bottom right, and with absolutely PERFECT english, moves a blocking ball away from his final ball, and in a short moment...#8 seeded Pool Legends are going, to, the World Series.
What happened here? Well, One thing I thought should have hurt Regs dearly, and eventually did, pacifier's blown shot with the easy run sitting there for him. Then sore_loser just drops the 8, no problem, 2-1 PL lead. Regs did rally off 2 straight from Flip and Trace, but I think Trace was wasted. Zero SHOT well last week. Putting him up Game 7 in a 1-game decides all scenario was a huge gamble, and me? I put Zero in at 2-2. Yes, Trace won Game 5, great. But either 3-2 PL or Regs, I put Trace in Game 6, or Pita even game 6 either way, and Trace gets Game 7. Either way Pita or Trace should've been playing game 7, and that didn't happen. But aside from that? Contrary to flip_is_stupid calling PL lucky shits, Regs got matched shot for shot, play for play, and when it counted PL got the better end of them 4 times. That's all it takes it is not rocket science.
What did PL do right? They didn't go all-out. Their early players were good enough to handle Regs' early players, and consciously or unconsciously, LuckyDog captained this in 3 stages. Stage 1: games 1 and 2. 1-1. Stage 2: 3-4-5, 2-1 Regs, 3-2 overall. Stage 3: LuckyDog and Fink go 2-0, all Pool Legends did was enough. They weren't extraordinary, they weren't over-aggressive, nothing heroic except for fink's absolutely amazing run at the end, they just did enough.
They played it like a 7-game match, and with LuckyDog and Fink sitting there waiting, the away team forced the home team to do the same. because let's say you send up Trace or Pita first, well now you need to go all-out you can't fake an all-out offensive because you've lost your get out of jail free (usually) card, and your team is mince meat for Fink and Lucky. Once they came out with James and Jer game 1 and 2, Luckydog had to have known the Regs were going to let PL play it like a 7-game match, couldn't have expected Zero in game 7, but he got him. And fink made Zero look like he couldn't shoot because...he didn't get very many chances to to say the least. I will say though if Zero had a good table, right now I'd be talking about how the Regul8ors are awaiting PO or QZ. That ain't the case. I don't think that guy who said "ownage" after james' run had much to say either...
So, the first Game 7 of Season 5. Can you believe it? We had plenty of Game 6s, but no 7s. Well, shut up cubby we had our 7, and now we get an off day and Thursday, another match that figures to go 7, the battle between 2 teams so ridiculously stacked with talent they make the Yankees look like the D-Rays could rack up 11 runs on their big ace and other relievers...Oh wait they can. Anyways, Outlaws-Quez Thursday, I may not be here because of a Sea Dogs game, but who knows maybe I won't go. Either way, watch the match and here's an idea... Behave? :)
Sincerely,
The Biggest Crybaby in MLP :)
