Sunday's Interview with Theike
Old school player, been around the game for quite some time... Let's see what Theike had to say regarding many important topics in MLP.

H: MLP season 5, back in season 3 when cam tourney was inserted, you became the first person to win such a tourney, ever since then it seems like you've lost your mojo and haven't been able to win another cam tourney, do you think your era has come to an end?
T: my era... big question but in all fairness i dont feel there ever was my era... 1st we had muta as you know and then there was... in my eyes at least .. a gap of a while without a real best (altho some may say moses brandon was the best) and then there was you so as far as my era goes there was never one.... however to answer the question on a wider scale "am i over the hill ?" id say no have i lost my touch... id say no... have i lost the absolute will to really get the best out of me... id have to say yes. See, its simply not the same as in the old days when ppl played virtually care and ego free... and im not bothered about aimers as much as i am with the attitudes an aimer can be beaten... an attitude hardly ever gets changed... this along with other factors made me lose the will to bring out the best out of me ... also add the fact i lost the feeling of having a real challenge. I feel ive proven myself and whether or not people see me as has been or good doesnt matter to me... im still here cuz i enjoy a game of pool occassionally and cuz its fun to me ... thats all it is to me nowadays.
H: Ever since your Poolhustlers entered MLP, they have always been candidates to go all the way, but it seems PH has always lacked that final punch to really make it happen, what do you think it has been the key factor in past seasons?
T: season 3 is long ago... but i remember we lost to po in their record season actually the match we lost in playoff was very good match considering they smoked us few weeks before that 6-1 in an awfull match .... but the playoff match was 4-2 but it was level for a long time infact i remember playing game 6 and each game before this had been very close i remember it still instead of playing an all out shot i got nervous and played in between safe and attack and as you know thats always a bad choice choose 1 or the other dont get stuck in the middle.... season 4 playoffs... well playing the regs it wasnt a pretty match what should have been a 2-0 lead ended up in 1-1 score and a heavy blow to us mentally and we never recovered from it. But as far as we being candidates to make it t the big time and to us not making it i think it can be explained very simple.... in the important matches we simply arent as consistent as u would have expected from us... 1st 4 weeks we had 3 tough matches and lost all 3 of em without ever being blown away... infact i still believe we should have won at least 1 of them. The keyfactor to these losses ... who knows really personally i know when i have an important match ongoing i seem to freeze up ... and i literally mean it... i see lots of pool games... and when i watch i can analyze shots and future shots... also when i play for fun with a friend i can do this or in a ph trny i can do this... then put me up for mlp and i cant think out my shots clearly anymore.. i just dont see it ... btw... this is since halfway season 4 that i have these blackouts in pool thoughts the reason why i dont know i suppose i put too much pressure on myself... and perhaps this same pressure is what gets to the team too much in past seasons. On a non mlp related note... wpc i had same damn thing... its like i get too much adrenaline my arms feel weak rofl and i go like wtf am i doing its just pool... cuz after its done i dont care win or loss all fine but during... man im like some gd rookie playing his 1st match on the big stage lol
H: You've been PH's main man ever since you guys joined MLP, and at first your team started having the rep of being the bad boys in town, you've worked so hard to clean that reputation, do you think you've succeeded now?
T: not sure thats really not up to me to answer... i remember when i started my clean up and i had mlp admisn telling me things like "wow im really impressed" and "i used to hate umping ph now its cool" but i still do think sometimes ppl think ph are a bunch of trouble makers... i must admit we still talk during a match... but its all good fun and having a laugh... and for as long as theres no rule against having fun im not gonna stop this lol.... some may see this however as being "troublesome" but too be honest when i ump or even just watch a match i see people talk and i talk along and joke with them same goes with our matches... anyway back to the question... i HOPE i have succeeded it would be nice to get a best sportsmanship award but those chances are slim bnr are always nice people
H: Sofia wanted me to ask you this lolol, do you think you were right to go along with her regarding the use of active players instead of "big names"?
T: well i had been pondering this prior to the season start but once i had a few requests of people wanting to join the team i had a hard time saying no but yea i feel too many leagues in mlp infact i think all of the top leagues use players who arent really noted as "active" and with active i mean real league players like in the old days... the requirements are a joke (how some ppl still manage to ne ineligible is a riddle to me... simply shows this is not an "interleague" anymore inacft they call it "stupid rules"). But to get back to the original point... yes i do feel i should and not just me all captains should look at themselves and think back to when pool was just for fun... and when representing YOUR LEAGUE actually meant something you were proud to be asked to play in an interleague .... nowadays ive seen many regulars of any given league come in and say "i never seen him before" or "can i play" and to the 1st.. that remark shows the players represting the league arent really a good representation of that league 2nd remark... which i see a lil bit more often... often gets ignored by the captains simply because they all use their friends/roster for it and thats that... i have sat out a few matches so i could let a regular shoot. I feel people should go back to the meaning of interleague... if the requirements are just looked upon as "needed to be able to play" we wont go forward because 20 games and can be played in 1 day and we all know how easy it is to report a match against a team mate... it makes the both of u eligible for that. Personally i would never ever even think about representing another league... because i am PH and will never go anywhere else even if we arent in that interleague... then i just wont play in that interleague simple as that... Its just not right in my eyes to represent a league when you are not a real representation of it... makes the whole league vs league thing useless because then its team vs team... which wouldnt be a bad format but MLP is an interleague.
H: Yep, besides playing with regulars also saves many troubles regarding behaviour during matches, that also must be making your captain job a lot easier
T: as far as the behaviour its easier in 2 ways 1st of all i choose nice members to represent us ofcourse no kids with big mouths but should something happen (which always can happen) if i warn them with a possible boxing in the home league they would more likely listen because thats where they play day in day out.... about the making the job easier... well yes and no.... since i use the regulars now... its always a surprise who the full set of names will be... so far now that people know they can play 1st match i had 9 players 2nd match i had 8 but ended up using a sub... these players take it as fun and arent the kind that would stay up till 4 am so they could play their 1 match. However we have enough depth because on all hours of the day i have at least another 5 hustlers on my yim ... and i dont often add em to my yim so that shows i wont get in trouble finding enough... also the quality will be the same... but in theory i could use 7 1 week and 7 totally different players next week... and still have the same kind of quality on the team... the depth is good which makes me happy... and these players can only get better too with this exposure to the best players around.. i have faith in my players and their talent... btw if i felt when we were 1-3 it was all over and my regulars had no shot making playoffs... i wouldnt have changed my ways... but i felt my real ph-ers could change this season around and so far they have made me proud.
H: What do you feel PH's chances are this season, now that you've mentioned a key point, depth?
T: well our chances... in all honesty i believe we can beat all teams or at least give em a good run for their money but as you and me know i dont have the best 7 out there if u would go by individual talents but i can say we have a very solid team with no weak links and no player is a walk over on a good night i feel we can take teams like mz po pf and oh yea regs *wink* but if you ask me 'what do you expect of your players..' id have to say i feel we can make playoffs... and if and i say if we should win monday vs AF it might make things interesting in the division seeing we could have a possible multiple teams tie then for the lead... but without dwelling too much on what can be... i do feel we will make the playoffs on our own merrit yes we had a bad start but pm lkp and pf are teams every single team in the conference will struggle with... look at bs 6-1 loss to pm and bs arent walk overs its all very close.
H: What team, besides PH, would you like to see winning MLP and why? any sentimental favorites?
T: well winning mlp is a big thing but there are a few teams i would like to do well like wa chp tp and bnr simply because these are well behaved team playing with regulars and in it for fun... but winning doesnt seem realistic for any of these teams however i do want them to do well and perhaps upset the big teams
H: And What teams will be there fighting for the world series? if you could name 4 or 5 leagues.
T: well po will go far... however for some reason i dont see them winning it i doubt they will take each match as serious as the next and underestimation can kill ya... mz will do well and 8br seems to finally come around those are besides defending champs pfn my big teams in the american.... the national seems to have less really big names player wise... but pf sticks out no doubt however they have slipped a little but but they will come around come playoff time. af does well now but without results that caught my eye after monday i can give some more insight on my views on this team but so far they are undefeated and thats not easy to do
H: Please name your best 7, not in matters of skills only, but in matters of good players all around, sportmanship like and kind people, current pool and pool all time
T: well now... hmm tough question because if i look at lets say the current best 100 pool players... no1 really jumps out with excellent sportsmanship when was the last time ive seen a rerack anywhere ? well i dont see em lol.... but just sticking with kind people and will rank them skill wise in my book. Now : luis ... champ chris ... jamie ... madcab danny ... full_blast... pita ... clever calm craig and please note these are not in my book the best 7 skill wise but these are people that to me come across as very nice guys and who i think might give me a rerack in game 7 world series 1-1 score in matches if i would be out of this world yahoo'd, please note i didnt pick any ph players to avoid a biased view. Alltime nice players among the elites... well some might know them some wont know these players but to me these were the nicest players and very very skilled muta... dur4n ....cliffy ...yes u too luis u again .... viuulento (dani to friends) ... jamie ... infact of the old days i could name 10 nice guys who could all be on here rami.. ky... ubaid.. wscotty... greg(gayzie) j33ay10 and most of them arent well known nowadays... doesnt mean i have forgotten about them tho ;)
H: lol ty btw, ok to the serious part now... this was from sofia, why on earth are you still a man city fan? lol
T: ill tell u how i started to cheer for city... back in 94 or something i rented this game called player manager... and u started in division 1... and city was 1 of the teams and i picked em... following up on that i always liked english football... and i followed them and when they relegated to the old 2nd division and still attracted the same attendance they had in the premier league... i knew this was my club... through thick and thin i would stand by my club... i dont need trophies to support a team... love for a club goes beyond winning its feeling united (bad word using in city reference lol) with your club and the other supporters... i truely feel i coudl walk into a city pub and enjoy myself with those guys infact on bbc 606 i post regularly on the city board and its all fun tim... if u knew how i felt when we were 2-0 down 90th minute 2nd division playoff finals but we scored twice in 90th minute... horlock and dickov ill never forget then weaver saving the last pk to bring us back to div 1 lol... ha @ long answer for that question
H: lol no shite, they suck so bad lolol and last question, who's gonna win the champions league? and please don't say psv lol
T: champions league... well sophie has brainwashed me enough to make me say chelsea... lol but on a more independant note i do feel chelsea are 1 of the 3 big candidates i feel its gonna be ac milan chelsea or juventus all 3 teams are very solid and dont ask me why but if id have to put my money on 1 team.. id choose milan however with the city derby up itll be tough those are extra tough
H: yeh for real, I never thought I'd say this, but I think chelsea is gonna win it, I do want liverpool to win it... anything you want to add? any cheap shots? lol
T: man i typed a lot lol at least i give something to read not "i pwn the world" bs lol hmmm cheap shots ? well no but now i have the floor ... guys ... and you all know for yourself if this goes to you... pool is just a game... win or loss... no need to start arguing over it... or bragging about it... after all whats the use you unplug your pc go out in the sunshine and out there no1 knows about pool... trust me you dont look cool walking up to a girl saying... hey girl i got a 2.8k in yahoo pool... that goes out to all the joshes and krunals and jj's in this world lmao
