The Significance Of Victory
Well, it means Poolfiction, after coming up short last season, cashes in on their 2nd consecutive World Series appearance. It gives them a record of 2-3 all-time in World Series sets. Last time was back in Season 4, when Coma and co. took on Kevin's Pool Outlaws (Kev's final season with PO before taking over QueBallz.)
For PFN Captain Kerryanne, it's her first ever World Series victory. The rarely-played Captain has also led Poolfiction to an astonishing 35 consecutive victories in MLP and PRO matchups, since losing last season's World Series.
For Chris.Dogg (CJP,) it gives him the option of retiring on top. While the match didn't reach him in game 7, he's quite easily the National League MVP for Season 10, and the biggest reason Poolfiction got to where they got. Unfinished business, perhaps. Considering he wanted to give it up at the end of LAST season, but with PFN unable to finish the job, Chris felt he needed to have one last go-round and take care of that final piece of the puzzle.
For Scott (mr.hegedus,) it means TWO consecutive World Series titles. In Season 9, it was his Cheap Shotz team knocking off Poolfiction in the World Series. He was named the MVP of that Series.
For derekgnr, maybe the least talked about good player around ypool gets HIS first World Series victory. All he did was play early in matches and help PFN build the early leads that got Chris, Jamie, etc. the opportunities to put matches away quicker.
For Jamie (BPK,) it gives him what I believe may be the most World Series titles for any one player. 3? 4 now? I can't remember, actually. I think it's three. Either way, he too played a pivotal role in the title run.
For me (Cubby,) the first World Series I've actually been a part of. Granted, I managed to play like piss and lose to Ketan, but it was fun to finally play in a World Series after missing the entire Playoffs for BOTH seasons 4 and 9.
For a lot of people I missed, their first World Series wins. It also gives a lot of PFN players victories in both PRO and MLP, within a month of each other.
Let's not forget about UnitedPool, however. Players like Ste and Jim possibly coming in to help a team that knocked off the 8BR giant convincingly this season. This team may well be back if everyone else sticks around, and with all the shake-ups that will come during and after the holiday break, who knows what teams will look like around them?
This year closes with the most dominant team MLP has ever seen surviving the giant-killers of UnitedPool, and winning the league's 2nd World Series trophy. Now, it's time to enjoy the Holidays and get ready for Season 11 in '08. Congratulations to all who played on a fantastic season, and to UnitedPool and Poolfiction for their runs through to the World Series. Cya next year!
