Continuing To Break Down The Upset

We left off with Game 3 between UP's Ketan and 8BR's Anthony. There isn't really much to say here. There was only one instance where Ketan was in danger of losing to Ant. Otherwise, he stayed in control of the game start to finish, never really banged to break out of anything and force the issue. Your league is up 2-0, make THEM make the big shot. I don't think there are many players in ypool that are smarter MATCH players than Ketan. Guys who can look at the big picture outside of just their game, and do it so well. But let's look at where Anthony could, and should, have taken that shot.

Ant has the ball near the middle of the table with 3 solids left. From the way it looks TO ME, and maybe he looked at the shot and determined that the cueball can't get past the 11-ball, it looked to ME like he could've made the easy 5-ball top right, and then he could make the 3, follow through and breakup the 14 and his 2-ball, make that, then the 8, game over and it's 2-1. Now instead he played a VERY good safety, and that may well have won him the game if ketan couldn't bank out of it. But he got glitched, and eventually Ketan would re-take control of the game. but I still believe the 5 would've gone, and he should've taken it.

But nevertheless, he still made a good play but got unlucky. He still had his chances to try and make a play to save the game, couldn't. Ketan essentially finished him off when he was able to get the cueball back to the left side of the table at the end, and got left with a run chance after Ant's ensuing shot. 3-0, and UP still has Pascal, this match is essentially over.

There isn't much to say after this. King went back to a lesser guy after essentially wounding 8BR to the point where they had no shot in hell. John played Corey and lost as you might expect, and then... Game 5? Not Pascal, he's playing game 7 WITH break. Instead it's 8BR's fsm_fear against Hockey_Kid. A game Hockey Kid should've lost immediately. He made the stupid move of not touching anything on the break because he decided to get cute, against one of the best runners in the game. Zack wasn't aggressive enough, though, and he played Crespo's slow game. Zack is still very good, but a quicker game favors him slightly more, in my opinion.

And that, is how the American League was won. UnitedPool knocks off 8Ball Runners AGAIN in an interleague playoff. And for Pats fan (and captain,) King, this has to feel a lot like the Patriots and Colts in the AFC Championship Games over the past few years.

They're in the World Series, awaiting the winner of tonight's PoolFiction-Pool Legends match. PL has second life after Malditos refused to re-play the match at 2-2 (two of their players were ineligible after a fake tourney was taken away from their games for the week) and forfeited. The better team does advance in the end, and tonight they will be hoping the 3rd time against PFN is a charm - After all, it was for UnitedPool.
