Week 4
Monday night PF has a forfeit win at 7 so at 8, LPL and MadSkillz. I'm actually rather impressed with this MZ team coming into MLP. They're a very respectable 2-1 with a 16/5 record. Hello. With that said it should be also be said I'm...not impressed with this LPL team. I don't know what happened in the off-season but whatever it was it sucked the life out of em. Perhaps they're rebounding, maybe that win over Keepers last week was what they needed. But I still think they have work to do. MadSkillz should win this 4-3.
LuckyPool and ElitePool at 9 in We Are The Champions. Heh. It's time to see the team of true LKP players for the first time this season. Losing Tyler didn't help them at all, their team now likely consists of Snake, Jenn, Licker, Jagged, and of course others, and Jenn might be in the running for captain most loyal to their league, but it's Luckypoolers who play in LKP, against ElitePoolers who...don't exactly play in EP a ton. Luckypool has a decent chance but Elites can probably win 5-2.
That leaves us with Tuesday at 7, BritPool had a lot of fun in PLC last week, won't bother with the details because, well... that'd take a long long time. I will say they're against PoolFiction and the match is in Bad Times, and I won't list Poolfiction's team of high performance players because I simply do it all too much. All I'll say is Poolfiction should easily win at least 5-2. The Captain Jammy Bus is running right through interleague city. The guy has not lost a single match as a captain, hello?
Outlaws and XPool in Play The Game as if it matters. The match is at 8, and even though the Outlaws are really playing sloppy pool here in the early goings, 1 big week is all they need. This is their chance. If the Outlaws still aren't with it, they win 4-3. If the Outlaws are really clicking, with James, Chris, Paul, Jamie, all focussed, they win 5-2 or even 6-1. XPool does have a better team this season despite what the standings might imply.
Hey let's do it again reminder timer wins/DQ's don't get too much credit here on SportsCenter...and I'll have more on that later in this post. But BlackSilver against the Hustlers in IL2, and BlackSilver loses to the Hustlers 5-2. Yes the Hustlers will get their first sweepless win. Heh, and they have 2 in 3 weeks scary huh? PH is just simply better and have I mentioned they got AceMarked FROM BlackSilver? Guy seems to show up against the league he left the very next week. Even if he doesn't play, 1 loss in matches the cub plays, 0 when yours truly wins, that ain't coincidence it's destiny ;) And hey, even if they don't play, BlackSilver just can't seem to close their games. This could be a 3-0 team, and they've let it completely slip away.
9:00 Break and Run against the 1-2 13/8 smoking cues...Kids don't let it fool you they're actually 0-3 6/15 but they got some ridiculous 7-0 win because BBM have been utterly stupid in the first few weeks. Did SC deserve that win? No. Have they played like a 1-2 team? No they've played like an 0-12 team in a 10 week season. since they lost neme and efcfan everything has gone downhill. But they were winning matches even when 1 or even both of them lost last season, so that isn't the problem. The problem is they just haven't been able to play pool. They managed a 3-4 loss against the Outlaws last week, props for that. But this is Break n Run's chance to make the rest of their season an easier playoff run. Capwhanda, Redhot, and Kellyhero are gonna take this team to a 4-3 win over the Cues.
StraightShots HappyPool to lead off Wednesday...HP undefeated in PLC...HP untalented in MLP. Reason? Simple, they don't have the players for it. They're all scattered here in MLP. Some in Regs some in BBM some in la-la land, and StraightShots are just simply...That good. By that good I mean they go into HP's house (Don't Stop Me Now) and Stop Them Now, 6-1. That's what I mean by SS are that good.
Then an hour later, EZ8 and the Keepers. Hustlers match in IL2, same time next night Keepers home in IL3. Clean-up in IL3 please...CKP have been a bit flakey these first few weeks. They barely got a win against SuperbPool after barely getting a team together, they barely got a game 7 win over Britpool, and then LPL scrapped a win against them. All 4-3 matches so far. This one will be too, but EZ8 wins it. And the Keepers I believe will be the first league in MLP to have 4 4-3 decisions, in the first 4 weeks.
Also at 8, SuperbPool and NewCastle. SuperbPool, this may be a shock...But you need 4 wins to win a match, and if you end with 3 and your opponents win 4, you lose. Stop giving up when you have a 3-1 lead. This is a battle between a league that just can't seem to win, and a league that just can't hold a lead. So who wins? SuperbPool. Liz_Moon isn't a bad pickup and she can only be a plus for this team. I also think Paris can hold the team together for 4 wins this time. Newcastle doesn't have bad players, they just have players who have a little trouble completing the job. If NC focusses, this could be a very entertaining match. But I still think SuperbPool wins 4-3.
Closing the night, Regul8ors and UnitedPool. UnitedPool's easiest opponent this season so far has been Break n Run, and they lost 4-3. UnitedPool still isn't a team full of bad players though, they've just had one tough ass schedule for these first weeks. Next week Elites, then maybe they get a break when they take on TRP in week 6. The string of losses though against the top leagues in the NL is gonna kill their momentum, and they just won't have any rason to think about the Playoffs because of it. Very unfortunate for them really. But getting back to this match, Regul8ors were full of choke artists last week, that'll change believe me. They're gonna come in determined and taking no prisoners. 6-1 Regs.
That brings us to Thursday. Pimps and Breakers at 7. This is actually a very even matchup and it's gonna be tough to choose a winner. It's all gonna depend on who plays who. If I'm the pimps though, if it's 3-3 never_lose plays game 7. And that game could be against sassy from BA. But remember the Pimps took an unusually struggling PF team to 3-3. I just have a gut feeling the Pool Pimps will win this 4-3.
At the same time...BeerBallers and PoolMasters play in Anything Goes. BBM does not have the intelligence to be a 3-0 team. But they have the skills for it. If they have pascal taking over as captain, he'll know damn well who's who and there won't be anymore of this "oh you're new? play for us" crap. Masters have to be feeling good about their sweep last week...Except it was against BNR. Still a good accomplishment though they didn't even settle for 6-1. However, BBM will continue to light up the tables, and although they're officially 2-1, I'm treating them like a 3-0 team. Oh excuse me...4-0. By the way, they'll win 4-3.
Last match of the week, the big capper...the amazing finale...isn't. It's TightRack against HotShotz. HS have been up...down...up...down. TRP much of the same...again pretty even. This is gonna be that "bad pool...but good match" type. Neither team is really exceptional, and it's actually a coin toss, but I'll take HotShotz to win, even though TRP might be the better team, in a close match one bit of luck can change it all.
