Monday night wrap-up

Who got to within a half-game of MadSkillz for the #6 seed, how EZ8 might have just clinched their division, and stunning results from the ElitePool-BlackSilver match, and I don't mean the score.

First off, SuperbPool-PoolPimps and to be honest, I was worrying about subbing in as captain somewhere else so I didn't really get to watch the entire match, but SuperbPool pulled of a 5-2 win, jumping out to a 3-0 lead, before Pimps could even get on the board, and then it'd be TRU_55 to clinch it with a win over o_w_n_a_g_e7...Proof once again that the word gets you nowhere =). Big_pimp_playa for SuperbPool (Ironic huh?) nearly won over captain YankeeChic, but unfortunately he knicked YChic's ball on the way to the 8, and the 8 still went, drawing the loss. So now SuperbPool will tie for #6 should MadSkillz lose to PoolFighters tonight at 7.

But another team who really wanted a win was EZ8, against a team who desperately needed one, HappyPool.
Game 1 Prince_Ful for HappyPool against a_frisky_lil_kitty from, who else? EZ8. The kitty goes 1...2...3...4...5...6...7 balls, running from the break until, bank the 8 time. Tries to go bottom-top middle, just misses to the left lip. Prince tries to run but misses a 1-ball rail shot on the left side, kitty with a much easier shot than that bank on the 8...misses again. Prince one more time, easy shot, and he misses because he decides to try and bank a ball instead, landing short. This time kitty doesn't miss with the 8-ball right in front of the bottom right. 1-0 EZ8
Game 2 Between HappyPool's EvilMailMan and EZ8's iviasta_l3oss, simple game: The boss misses with 4 balls sunk, and the MailMan comes back and drops 8 of 'em. Great run from EvilMailMan makes it 1-1.
Game 3 HappyPool: hotcoffeelover. EZ8: craig605911. Craig...doesn't like coffee all that much. The coffee addict gets left with no shot, tries a bang and we all know the down-side to banging...For those who don't: Craig is left with 6 solids and the 8, game ends with 3 stripes on the table. Craig's good run makes this a 2-1 EZ8 lead.
Game 4 Desi_perdesi against EZ8's weiner_taco...I won't say anything. Desi gets yahoo'ed early, at least from my eyes, going for a combo, ball in hand taken...but weiner missed his next shot. Then after a safety from desi...which looked really nice... Yo quiero taco bell. Weiner taco nails a 3-7 combo, ranging from the right side of the table, to the top left, even sinking the 3 as well. but eventually he would fail to clear up the 8 so desi, here's your chance to tie it at 2. She makes some nice clutch shots, she tries a cuebank from the top right side, off the left to nail the 9 in the bottom right...just barely misses. Someone fetch me a chihuahua the taco man puts EZ8 up 3-1.
Game 5 What could be worse than a crankyass? A female crankyass...yikes! HP sends up mrs_crankyass to save them against Taz_418. And taz runs 1...runs...wait, hang on that's JJ's. -Flips through catchphrase notebook- Ah, here's one. Taz running like roadrunner (cue the tazmanian devil sound effects) until...he's left with a bank on his final stripe, which he can only get set up for the bottom middle, and hope his opponent misses. She does just that on her 4th shot. Taz on the 9, drops it easily but almost scratches, getting a fortunate bounce however off the left lip of the bottom middle. EZ8....now 8-3 on the season, guaranteed 9-3 (unless they withdraw for some odd reason).
Game 6 Demoman from HP against All-Star (and winning) captain chrys_an_the_mum. (That's a flower, for those aspiring botanists.) Chrys always gets unlucky in these stupid season matches when she plays it seems...will it continue? Demo nails a cue-bank from the left side, left rail-into the 4-ball on the top right side, then 2 shots later makes a Nice with a capital N, in fact I'll make the I and C capital too. NICe break-up shot, but can't finish the job. chrys now with a chance to run. Makes 1....makes...whoops, just missed the 2nd shot, but demo has no easy shot. But he does make a nice 2-rail scratch. Chrys gonna try again, gets to her final stripe, the top corners have hated her as of late...they still do. 13-ball top left just misses. Demo salvages what he can of the match, it's 4-2.
Game 7 Such a shame it can't be worth anything. HP captain crankyass (sounds like a comic book hero) against EZ8's Shane_900. Cranky middle of the game, has a few options for a shot, he decides to use his super-cranky power and makes the 3-ball bottom-top middle. But...sadly, he can't finish, and he's stuck 1 ball against 6. Shane simply snooks around and unlike Daru earlier this season, he doesn't mess up ;) eventually gets the win and the final result: EZ8 5 - 2 HP.

So with that division race heating up...we move to ElitePool-BlackSilver. ElitePool on fire lately but...for how long? By the way 4-0 in away matches this season, and they are away.
Game 1 Tooth3215 leading it all off, he's against ElitePool captain xlx_jack_xlx. Middle of the game Tooth makes a pretty efficient safety after jack's bank-safety. Jack tries to intentionally combo the 3-15, hitting Tooth's stripe in the top right. It hangs like a Jon lieber pitch. However very next shot for Tooth, he has the 11 hang in the bottom left. jack pulls a 6-11 combo, this time successfully making tooth's ball. Later in the game, Jack scratches trying for a break-up shot, and uh...don't forget to floss Jack, dentist's orders. Tooth finishes the table, BS up 1-0.
Game 2 ElitePool's d_r_o_p_p_i_n, facing BlackSilver's Mr_Buggsbunny. That's former 8BallElite badking. Buggsbunny trying to run it early, but he scratches after making 4. Droppin takes over, trying to do what that wascawy wabbit couldn't. Bunny gets booted, but droppin plays through, then he gets back and droppin continues on after getting the OK. Down to the final solid, drains it, but now he has to bank the 8. He'll try right-bottom left. Barely misses, and ehhhhh...What's up d_r_o_p? Badking, buggsbunny, whatever ya wanna call him, it's 2-0 BS.
Game 3 Goodness, 2-0 BS? Scary...Slam_n_pray for BS against EP's FLIP_master. Flip tries to run from break but gets jammed in the bottom right pocket, with no line. he makes a little tap shot, trying to keep slam from having a line as well. But judging from the shot he made I'd say...he definately had one. Slam trying to get back to running, has the game easily won buuuuuut....misses the 2-ball. Flip...gotta have it, and he has it so far, doing well to unblock his 9 on the top rail, then...well he showed left english...but it followed through on that right-hand rail, and he gets stuck in that damn bottom right (again). he would proceed to scratch, and slam bam thank you ma'am BlackSilver is up, three, to, zero.
Game 4 Well...BeerBallers and Regul8ors are happy...so far. Now it's time to see the aces of ElitePool. Scotter against former HotShot Blondeh14. (That's vickie, for you folks playing the home game.) Scotter first shot of the game misses an easy shot, but I'm not quite sure if it was really that accidental. Fast forward I'm tired bored and hungry. Scotter makes a very efficient safety, then he gets a shot (though with a small threat of being Yahoo'ed) but he drops it, but given the situation, he has to safety next. Blondeh makes a fairly good escape, but can't make things harder for scotter. ElitePool finally gets on the board it's 3-1. All 3 matches were 3-1 at one time.
Game 5 eat_sleep_pool against BS player ooo_franchise_ooo (rufferman) and we're on cam. Remember that. This game...every shot made...on cam. Let's begin class. Quite a slow game with safeties, escapes, a few shots here and there, damn I'm really bored let's get to the action. End of the game (because I like robbing misterlucky of these long safety battle descriptions too) he plays one last safety after being left with no shot...Rufferman's only shot is a cuebank off the top rail, making the 9 in the bottom right. Is it just me? Or have we been leaving that 9 for last almost every game? ...Oh beautiful for spacious skies ruffer will win this game...He makes a great clutch bank, on cam, and uh...the 8 is no problem. ElitePool has been upset by the BlackSilver team, it's now 4-1.
Game 6 Brandon finally comes up, against BlackSilver's env0y420. env0y middle of the game tries....something. Brandon's gonna try to to run him. Brandon won't get too far. Env0y makes a good-looking 5-1 combo, from the right side to the left bottom. And of course this game isn't on cam so we're gonna hear the constant pissing and moaning about it not being on cam and brandon's gonna send a couple masses -yawn- same ignorant crap. env0y leaves himself with a cuebank, but just barely misses it and...all of a sudden the cam talk stops. Whoops. Brandon finishes and steals one (yes, steals guys, you know who I'm talking to) and remains undefeated this 7v7 season, to go with his cam jump win this Sunday. it's 4-2. (4-2 Liz 4-2)
Game 7 BlackSilver's Shadow, who has only played a half billion games in BS =p against the ReallyBigAssNegro. His first game of the night and they'll go back and forth for about 15 minutes, with a quite well-played safety showdown, before the Negro gets a clear chance to run, he does so, to the 8, on the right rail, and...Yahoo gets a little racist. Shadow takes advantage and finishes out the game. BlackSilver stuns ElitePool 5-2, setting themselves up to tie PoolMasters should they lose to UnitedPool this week (and remember the trouble UP gave the regul8ors.) It also sets up a Regul8ors-BBM match tonight, to decide the leaders of the NL Pacific. Ain't life fun this time of season?

As for the ElitePool team, it seems ReallyBigAssNegro and Brandon are both quitting the EP team. That, coming from Brandon's mass complaining about some of the friction amongst some the EP players when they lose a match. ElitePool may not be that big powerhouse they would've liked to be after all...Outlaws of course don't mind...less competition for them.
