Thursday Night

Tonight, was, amusing. Game 7 timers, comeback efforts, teams just wanting to get in the top 4 or close to it, what reason was there NOT to watch?

Atlantic - UnitedPool 5-4, 27/36. basically they're a very fortunate above-500 team. Wait...they WERE above .500. Now 5-5 along with LPl in the tie taking up 3rd and 4th places in the Atlantic, after a 5-2 loss to HappyPool. Uniteds trailed 3-1 early, and then badking, flashing his non-double-digit losing streak, started the comeback rally to make it 3-2. Rally over though. HappyPool wins it next game, GodsAccess losing the final meaningful game of the match. Relevance: 8BR is now a game out of 4th place. UnitedPool still has to meet PoolFiction and 8Ball Runners. But then, 8BR still has to get through SuperbPool, Quez, and LPL. Interesting little battle in the Atlantic could be in store for us all.

Central - HappyPool. Yes we have a 3-way 5-5 tie. If CueKeepers beat XPool next week, they're ahead of XP and HP regardless of what HappyPool does. Keepers beat HappyPool on a timer earlier this season, DejaVu was the only player for HP. Now, next week HappyPool has the unenviable task of taking on the red-hot SuperbPoolers. DreamPool plays StraightShots on Saturday, why they always play on Saturday now is beyond me because they've never been any good on Saturday. And it's DreamPool. No school, usually no work, DP will most likely have their top 7, it's gonna be a massacre.

Mountain - LuckyPool the first to make their match up of the 3, they're now 5-5 with their 5-2 win over Bearskins. Back to form pretty much it seems, now that Jenn and Snake also showed up for the match, Snake returning to LKP from MadSkillz. This is pretty much the team I said, the team that played tonight, would make the playoffs. They're a half-game behind HotShotz for 4th, who are still yet to make up their match. Oh by the way, they play each other next Monday. PoolPimps were in action tonight, but a brutal game 7 captaining blunder pretty much cost them their match, mistakes in the upper levels of PLP has been the story of their season. It was 3-3 and l3lazer fan called potnl3alls knowing full well he wasn't even at hq or in the lobby. Rules say you can't switch players after you call them, but had he waited alleciac would've been available. PoolMasters also in action tonight as I jump all over the standings page. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead over ChampionsPool, but jimvan couldn't fend off mjaust, a good all-star candidate by the way when the time comes, and then ehkohz right off the bat in her game drops the 8. But speaking of all-stars, 3-2, dynamite_que who has been simply dialed in lately, winning a Cam Jump before saving PM against Breakers Alley with a game 7 vic, comes up big here beating lvlr_c0mputer. PM would go on to win the match 4-3 despite Spanky's game 7 loss, they are level-pegging with Pool Hustlers at 7-3, except they do hold the Head to head advantage over them from just before PH started tearing people limb from limb in the NL.

Pacific - The result for that PLP match was 4-3 BNR of course, with jerm_is_evil coming up huge in the match. Putting together a nice run, BNR did blow the lead and actually trailed 2-3, until redhot squeaked out a win in Game 6, onegusone credited with the game 7 W. It ends a 3-week losing streak for Break and Run. Bearskins lost but no blame can be put on pudsybear as she kept up her end of the bargain. Putting together a nice run like jerm did against PoolPimps, it wasn't enough though and the 2-5 loss keeps them at just 2-6, beginning to get more and more unlikely that they find a way to the Playoffs. But Break and Run helped themselves out, 4-6 now they move into that 3-way tie with Pool Legends and BeerBallers, Head to Head all settled in that group though so I may as well spell it all out. BeerBallers hold their controversial 4-3 over Break and Run, and a 3-4 loss to Pool Legends. That leaves them with 7 wins and a 1-1 record against BNR and PL...This will be a recurring theme. Break and Run has a 4-3 win over PL because of Legends taking Pool Pals record and with that, all the losses for tiebreakers, that puts THEM at 1-1 with 7 wins...So I need not explain Pool Legends, 1-1, 7 wins. Now that's only relevant if the entire season win/loss records are identical. They aren't. So if the season ended right now BeerBallers would advance with their 32 wins, to BNR's 30, and PL's 29. Now suppose ChampionsPool beats Bearskins and end up tied at whatever the other 3 have eventually. Then it's win/loss anyways, and BBM still advances. So basically...BBM's in really good shape right now. Except that they still have to play HotShotz, LuckyPool, BlackSilver, Bearskins, and TourneyPool. Now so you don't all have to skim through the rules link to see what I'm talking about, here are your 3-way tie rules.

[2] In a 3-way tie situation, there are a few different scenarios that determines which team is seeded highest:

If 1 of the 3 teams defeated both others in regular season play, that team is seeded highest of the 3, and the 2 other teams are decided by head to head.

If all 3 teams are 1-1 against each other, the tiebreaker is win/loss record in games played during the matches. All 3 teams are ranked in order of best game record. In a situation where 2 of the 3 teams are tied in wins/losses, the tie is broken by head to head.

If all 3 teams are 1-1 against each other, and all 3 are tied in wins/losses, the tiebreaker is wins/losses against each other in the 3 Season games the tied Leagues played against one another during the regular season.

If all 3 teams are 1-1 against each other, all 3 are tied in games record, and are also tied in Games Record against each other, the next tiebreak is COMMON OPPONENTS. The 3 tied Leagues are measured on Win/Loss and/or Games Record against other Leagues in their division, starting with the Highest Ranked League in the division (outside the 3 tied leagues) and going down the list until the tie is broken.

So basically, the Pacific is still a war down at the bottom, ChampionsPool still has a decent chance, but really we're all looking at BBM, BNR, PL, battling it out for some June playing time. I asked this about the Tour but I have to ask it here too...YO WHO WANTS IT?
