Rules and Cheating
First off, as we all know rules are necessary to have any kind of order in anything. A league, a country, sports, anything. And in most every case, these rules ensure success. I've always liked rules. I mean, usually they're spelled out perfectly, and you know what is and isn't allowed. In MLP there's not a lot of question as to what the rules are. You're either behaving, or you're not. There's no real borderline here. Could certain rules use some tweaking? Obviously yes. Idle rule, maybe game requirements, etc. But overall, the rules here have been a fairly big part in MLP's success. But...
The argument could easily be made that rules encourage cheating. It's almost as if the Admins are making a dare to the players. You're not allowed to do this, but we dare you to try and see what happens. Usually, people get caught, and they get punished. But everywhere, despite the fact the rules are there, or maybe because they're there, people feel the need to cheat, and break those rules. Take Jet Set Poker for example. They raised the number of max players in a freeroll from 400 to 600, and even 1250 for their cash payout freebies. 400 was easily enough don't you agree? Now, the door is wide open for people to make multiple accounts and sign up 2 or 3 times for the same tourney. The rules don't allow it, but they're going to anyways. Just like leagues ban aimers. Does it mean nobody who plays in a league uses an aimer? Of course not. People will do it. MLP bans multiple accounts. Will it happen? Yes. Has it? Yes. I had to sit back and think for a while why people feel the need to cheat. It's a question I've asked myself ever since the final few weeks of Season 4.
Before that, silly me, I thought they did it to win, for themselves. But then MJ and TRU came along. I thought well, maybe just an isolated incident. Then, Scotter happened. I had to re-think why people cheat. Finally, I came up with the only reason that makes any sense at all: They cheat, because they can't. They cheat because the rules do not allow it, but the means they are presented with DO allow them.
So really, that is the only logical explanation I can come up with as to how people cheat. Maybe some of you have different theories.
