3 Weeks Down, A Bunch To Go!
Alright let's start with the Weekly Top 5...
#1: 8Ball Runners - As usual, ANOTHER Tour victory, ANOTHER convincing win, ANOTHER Player of the Week... This is literally the easiest part of my weekly updates, seriously! NEXT: @ BNR
#2: Pool Legends - First sweep of this MLP Season, and not really a surprise... They are 3-0, #1 in Win/Loss record at 16/5, just simply dominant so far in the American League. PL and 8BR... Early World Series favorites but as we all know... Stuff happens. Legends have a better chance of making it I think, because in the NL there are more potential upsets waiting to happen. NEXT: @ PZ
#3: Pool Pimps - Simply to prove that attitude doesn't play any significant role in these rankings (otherwise Pimps would be well off the list guaranteed forever), they made quick work of Pool Masters, they're loaded, they haven't had a major slip-up yet, they're the 3rd-best team in MLP, that's why they're #3 on my list. So far. NEXT: vs. HS
#4: Malditos - Jumping into the top 5 after a good win over the Cue Keepers. They have a great closer in Miz, and very good middle players who are reliable enough to win the game they're called to play each week. They won't have one person win every game like they had with CHEX last season, but they'll have 2 or 3 people win a lot of games, much like they did last season. For now, they're #4. NEXT: vs. LS
#5: PoolFiction - I had to really think about this. I knew I was keeping PFN in the top 5 but I didn't know how far to drop them after their loss to BritPool. That all was made a lot easier when I saw that Jamie had withdrawn. It may only be a short break, but without him PFN is almost like the Red Sox - Without a set closer. Against PLP it was Craig, and against BP it was Kerry. That's not Jamie. NEXT: vs. PM
MATCH OF THE WEEK
BritPool @ Pool Pals - Tuesday night. That's great. You've got a BP team that just upset Poolfiction, and a team that is very solid, against a tough Pool Pals team, that needed a timer in game 7 to sneak by BNR (granted, BNR's game 7 option wasn't really a threat, but still.) Pool Pals are a talented team in their own right, with Rah and Bam heading up the back end of their matches, usually. When they meet up with the likes of heavymetalisbest (I'd give him co-player of the week if I believed in having 2 POTW winners by the way), and BritPool as a whole... I can't help but notice the two leagues are almost carbon copies of each other. That = Great match. As for a result... I like BritPool in this one, 4-3.
UPSET SPECIAL
OK so uh... I'm kinda 0-3 here but come on... I'm picking leagues I think will upset a better league. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all in the week, other times... It's just not the one I said it would be. This time, I think I got a good one. Right out of the gate - Pool Dreamers and Cue Keepers. I think the Dreamers may win this match now that they'll have everyone, and they gain a fairly good player in vishu, from BritPool. Really outside of Pool Masters in the first place I don't think there are gonna be any scares for the better leagues this week, and I'm not saying Dreamers have too good a chance either, but they have the best chance of anyone. Keepers... You never know if Mick is gonna be around, they haven't really impressed yet... Wait this looks exactly like last season! IF PLD wins, they win a tight, fluky, 4-3 match. I'll make them my official pick just to show a little faith in my Upset Watch... But let's just say Week 4 could be an all-chalk week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Week 1: 8BR_xlx_under_dog_xlx
Week 2: PZ_ll_goodwooter_ll
Week 3: 8BR_o00_mwxzk_00o - Another BLT winner for 8BR, and he wins in VERY impressive fashion with a straight run-out in Game 3 in the 8BR-Hot Shotz match. Remember I said ya can't do it much better than Declan did in Week 1? Well, keyword: "MUCH", because M-Dub just did it better.
