Weekly Review, Top 5 Fad Continues, etc.
OK let's get down to business. The top 5 leagues as of Week 2 in MLP are...
#1: 8Ball Runners - ANOTHER BLT win, another million points, and a good win over the Pool Pals this week, winning 4-3 and needing just 6 to do it. They lose Coma to Pool Pimps, but that doesn't seem to be a problem at all. They're still loaded, and look to go pretty far in the NL.
#2: Poolfiction - They knock off Pool Pimps 4-3 in a great match, they have so much depth that even Craig could play 3-3 against King James and still win :p The NL Playoffs are going to be so much fun in a couple months, but for now they remain #2, Week 7... 8BR and PFN. Oh boy.
#3: Pool Legends - Convincing win over Cue Keepers, big one over Malditos in Week 1, they're the only league who has any prayer of knocking 8BR off the top of the hill in the BLT (14 points back), and as long as they stay out of trouble, they are easily a legitimate World Series contender.
#4: Pool Pimps - Tough loss this past week to PFN, but they also add Coma to their roster and he will be a contributor early and often. Talk about a gauntlet for 8BR... They not only have PFn in Week 7, but in Week 6 they have Pool Pimps! Pimps are a 3-loss team at the absolute worst, and all they need to do is remain a team. They also need to realize talent doesn't win games. They need to earn those wins each week.
#5: Pool Loverz - The last of 4 2-0 teams. Are they the 5th best team in MLP? Probably not, but time will tell. They have a possible MVP candidate in goodwooter who could lead them like heavymetalisbest did BritPool last season, they've got a pair of pretty good wins (not great, but pretty good) against Lucky Shots and UNY. Next week they have their biggest challenge yet - Cheap Shotz.
MATCH OF THE WEEK
Qithout question, Malditos @ Cue Keepers. A pair of 1-1 teams, fairly evenly matches, CKP has a lot of "aces in the hole" that they can use, players that don't ALWAYS win, but enough players who win fairly consistently. Malditos, well they have an all-star cast themselves. You know Miz will play late, you know they'll progressively use better players as the match goes on, I would look for Pommy and CKP to be really aggressive and try to win this in 5 or 6 games, try to do it BEFORE Miz plays. I'm taking Malditos in this anyways, probably a 5-2 win because of CKP's aggressiveness backfiring, but I think this'll be a very good match to watch.
UPSET SPECIAL
I said before you would not believe who I took for an upset. Well, let's see if you saw it coming: Pool Loverz win 4-3 over Cheap Shotz. CZ has not been a very impressive league this season, and nothing compared to last season. Pool Loverz like I said aren't amazing, but they're pretty good, and more than capable of upsetting a few leagues this season. I think goodwooter will cap off a 4-3 W in Game 7, just like he did against UNY, and PZ takes out CZ.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Week 1: 8BR_xlx_under_dog_xlx
Week 2: ll_goodwooter_ll - Big Game 7 win to save PZ against UNY, it's almost like I'm starting a fan club or something. He played a very smart game in his win, he will be THE key next week against Cheap Shotz. We'll see next week...
Full picks coming Sunday night after the Tour, in the meantime check out some of past few posts by predictor! :D
