All-Star Week Underway!
2-1 NL as I got in. SPG with a mildly difficult 8ball shot against ch1cubs of the AL. He knocks it down top middle to give the National League a 3-1 lead.
Game 5 - im_just_jeremy (BA) against CJP (PFN) - Chris will go for the run with 5 stripes left, most of them near the bottom right pocket. Hits the 15-10 combo in the bottom right and he looks to be in business. However, he can't get any position on the remaining 12 ball, and will have nothing, jeremy comes back and wins it with a run of his own, and the AL has a little more life here as possible MVP CJP is gone.
Game 6 - tino_nica (MLD) against MJ (8BR) - MJ gets ball in hand, starts with the middle of the table and goes right to work. Good shot on the 5 to hit the top middle, 3 top right, 7 same pocket, needs position on the 6... PERFECT. THAT is the MJ we haven't seen much of this season, taking advantage of his chance due to no-shows, and he gives the NL a 4-2 lead.
Game 7 - Miz (MLD) vs. Declan (8BR) - No contest. Declan breaks, Miz runs, a great 8balling, and it's 4-3, NL only up by 1.
Game 8 - Ketan (CZ) against derekgnr (PFN) - Ketan has a pretty good position, but got booted. He would time out. 5-3 NL, remember it's bo17.
Game 9 - Judge (BP) against mr_l3ig_t (LS) - Judge a replacement for BP... Final game of the first round of this 9v9 All-Star Match. Roy plays a great safety game after the first 5 balls potted were Tony's stripes. He'd try to run but would get caught up on the 7. Roy tried a hard cut, didn't fall, TONYTIME! ...Or not. He misses, Roy doesn't, 6-3 National League through the first 9 games.
Game 10 - steven.rules (SS) against o.wn4ge (CKP) ...Aaaand stevey knocks down the 8, so it's 6-4 now.
Game 11 - im_just_jeremy (BA) against daquiet.storm (PM) - Jeremy will have a go at a run, looking to down 4 solids in a row. Long shot on the 7, top right... NO! So daquiet would make 4 stripes... Kind of a trend here. 8ball, bottom left, THAT misses. So now jeremy again... Makes the 7, DOESN'T leave a shot on the 8! He'll try and bank off the bottom to the top left. BINGO! Jeremy makes it 6-5!
Game 12 - Miz (MLD) against SPG (PFN) - Miz trying to knot it up at 6. Miz breaks, Miz runs, like he did against Declan except with the break this time. We're tied at six apiece!
Game 13 - o.wn4ge (CKP) against MJ (8BR) - Started out as a safety battle, turned into a good old-style MJ 8-balling of Matt. Sends the 8 home bottom middle, NL gets back in the win column it's a 7-6 NL lead.
Game 14 - im_just_jeremy (BA) vs. derekgnr (PFN) - Jeremy trying to run a little gauntlet here and tie it back up at 7 all. But derek has an open table except for the 8 frozen to the 5, and he quickly took care of it. He runs 6 stripes, can't put the 9 in, so he leaves it near the pocket. So jeremy will get his chance to tie. Questionable shot on the 7, moves the 8 around a bit... and then the 6 misses bottom left. Derek tries... Something. *shrug* Jeremy... Smart play is a safety, instead he goes DRAINO on a nice cut, 5-ball across the table bottom left. Obviously not deterred by the miss earlier. Makes the 1, bottom left as well. Cueball however comes around, and puts the 9 in the way of everything else. So jeremy needs to bank and somehow make legal contact with a solid... And with a little more power he'd have dropped the 2ball in the bottom middle, coming off the left rail with the cue. He would leave the 9 however, and derek puts the National League on the hill. It's all up to Miz on the AL's side.
Game 15 - Miz (MLD) against Roy (BP) - So BP's replacement, the Judge, could clinch it for the American League. Miz goes to work after an off-and-on safety contest. Miz... 7 in the middle of the table, only option is bottom left. On its way, IN AND OUT! Chance for Roy to seal the deal. 4 stripes in the bottom right corner. Combos one home, the 12. 13 and 10 same pocket. 14 top right but he leaves the cueball on the wrong side of the 8! No shot available! He'll try a cuebank off the top rail, to bottom right. No real chance. Miz finishes, the AL is still alive.
Game 16 - Miz (MLD) doing battle with MJ (8BR) - Miz's break is a "shitbreak" (Nothing goes), but MJ can't cut the 9 home bottom middle early on. After some safeties, and a make here and there, Miz banks the 3 in top middle off the 8ball. He would then go on to runthe table, and guess what? This baby is TIED at 8-8!
Game 17 - Miz (MLD) against derekgnr (PFN) - Derek breaks in the final game of this All-Star Matchup. Nothing goes.... And in typical Miz fashion, a run after the break and the AMERICAN LEAGUE takes their first, and only, lead of the match, and Miz wins it 9-8 for the AL!
