Late Accuracy Key For Tourney Pool
One shot a perfect game, one didn't miss, and another didn't attempt a shot. It figures that a player that missed 2 shot attempts, and one who attempted none, would be the losing players for Tourney Pool as they beat Magic Pool 5-2 Tuesday night.
TP struck first, as emmitt22_da_man hit key shots down the stretch to knock off Magic Pool's leadoff man, tibetanfightingchipmonk. Even with a pair of stripes remaining, emmitt was able to play a perfect safety to force a foul out of Tom. That would be the fatal moment in game 1, as emmitt finished off his stripes and downed an easy 8-ball to give Tourney Pool a win in its first game of Season 12.
Magic Pool tied the match immediately as dont_miss_2007 beat ball_brilliance. Craig (ball) knocked the 8 in off the break, and on the ensuing rerack, Ian would come out on the winning end of a long, almost uneventful safety battle. 25 minutes into the match, Ian would finally get a chance to run. Although he made his five shots a lot harder than they had to be, he sank them all, 8 included, and tied the match up. It should be noted ball_brilliance never made an attempt to pot a ball.
That would be all Magic Pool would do until the sixth game, despite having plenty of chances. Tourney Pool's mast3r.full survived an over-powered run attempt from mike_oneill43, but needed one last safety to get into position on the 8 before breaking the 1-all tie. He did not miss any shot attempts, making all six he tried and shot a foul-free game. Magic Pooler daknight_4u had plenty of chances, even late in the game to make one big shot on his final stripe, as lnspired_spin was incapable of running wide open tables on several occasions, forcing himself to safety and bide time. In the fifth game, my_lyrical_style_iz_explosive let loose with bang after bang, trying to knock off kingvaughan and pick up a save for MP. Some of those shots came very close to hitting their mark, but getting close just means you missed. Ross eventually went 7-for-7 in the game, committing only one foul as he clinched the match for one of Major League Pool's newest competitors.
Later in the match, xlx_skill_xlx took advantage of a rare miss from Tourney Pooler deep_cerebro to knock Luis off in game six, while t_r_3_y defeated everton------e.f.c@sbcglobal.net, who understandingly didn't care about what was a meaningless game in the context of tonight's match, for win number five. The match took 2h 1m to complete.

The win matches exactly what defending MLP Champion Pool Fiction did in their controversial match with Lucky Shots, also winning 5-2. That match, marred with bad blood and controversy all night, spun around completely when Lucky Shots gained a 3-2 lead, but had a game tape disqualified due to the timestamp disappearing. Pool Fiction instead took the 3-2 lead and did not lose afterwards.
In the only other match played thus far in the National League, Extreme Cues made their presence felt in its inaugural MLP match, beating Pool Pals 4-3 on Monday night. Former Pool Pals Captain spin.technician picked up the crucial win against his former team.
One more match remains to be played in the NL, as Break And Run will square off against Dream Pool in Thursday's nightcap, at 9:00.
In the American League, not much place for excitement yet. Pool Legends swept Straight Shots 7-0 on Monday night. In that match, p00l_charlie received a ten-day box from MLP Admin Dina, for complete disregard of the rules. Dina added that Charlie was not even on the Straight Shots team when he played. One hour later, Devine Cuez emphatically joined MLP by sweeping Pool Loverz.
Wednesday night's lone match features United Pool and Cheap Shotz at 7:00, in daz_ed's Match of the Week. Thursday night is your first chance to see the recipient of the first of 14 Gold Memberships being awarded to Big League Tour winners, as seven_ball3d and True Pool Legends play host to 8Ball Scratch.
